DAY BEFORE YOUR CUSTOM SPRAY TAN:
  • Wax or Shave - This is best done at least 24 hours in advance. This gives the hair follicles and pores time to close back up before achieving your spray tan. Second, your razor has a moisturizing strip that can create a barrier between your skin and the solution.
  • Manicure/Pedicure - This is best done at least 24 hours in advance. Acetone and soaking in warm water for an extended period of time WILL remove your tan. Get those hands and feet pretty before you come get your custom spray tan. We want to keep your tan flawless!
  • Exfoliate - If you exfoliate properly your tan will last longer. The reason for this is because the tanning solution is exposed to the outermost layer of skin. Because our skin has a thick layer of dead skin cells, the better we exfoliate the longer it takes for the layer of dead skin cells to shed again. This means your tan can extend for a few more days!! Grab a loofah, mitt, or washcloth and scrub a dub.
  • Moisturize - After exfoliating, use a moisturizing lotion on your skin. Keeping your skin hydrated will help the solution absorb better.
DAY OF YOUR CUSTOM SPRAY TAN:
  • Shower - This will remove any and all lotions, makeup, perfume, and deodorant. If these items are not removed, they will create a barrier between the solution and your skin. Do NOT use bar soap, products that contain oils, or any moisturizing ingredients. These items will leave a barrier on your skin and your tan will not absorb to the skin properly. Be sure to go back over your body with a bath cloth or loofah to remove any extra moisturizer from your bathing product.
  • Bathe the kiddos/Brush your teeth - Remember you can not touch water for several hours after you spray tan.

AFTER YOUR SPRAY TAN:
  • Loose clothing - Dark colored and loose clothing works best after getting a custom spray tan. Cotton sundress, big t-shirt and baggy pj pants are great. If you wear tight fitting clothes they will cause friction and it will affect the outcome of your tan. The solution will rinse out of most fabrics. Try to stay away from wool and nylon as it is harder to get the solution out of these fabrics. Ladies, this is one of those times I urge you NOT to put your bra back on. It will interfere with the custom spray tan absorbing to the skin. Remember, you are supposed to wear "loose" clothing.
  • Large towel - Bring a dark towel of some sort. You do not want to get your upholstery dirty in your vehicle. This will protect your seats from getting a glow too.
  • Open toe shoes - No socks or closed toe shoes. These cause solution to be rubbed off your ankles and toes. Remember we are trying to keep your tan flawless. Besides, you want people to notice your gorgeous glow and newly pedicured toes, not your hardly tan ankles and feet. Bring your flip flops!
  • Avoid water - Ladies and gents, this means no baths, showers, teeth brushing, a quick swim, or playing in the rain for the advised time your technician tells you it will take your custom spray tan to absorb. Most (but not all) will be encouraged to sleep in their tan and bathe in the morning. You want your color to process and that takes time. You will shower as normal and will notice some color come off from your skin. This is NORMAL. The spray solution has an added bronzer for instant gratification. That is what you see coming off. Do not be alarmed.
  • Avoid sweating - Same as with water. This will interfere with the tanning process. Leave the heavy lifting and exercising to the next day. Order pizza and enjoy a night to kick your feet up!
  • Cats and Dogs - Do not let your fur babies lick your tan. It will leave white patches.
MAINTAINING YOUR SPRAY TAN:
  • Do NOT exfoliate - Avoid this for the duration of your tan. This even includes drying off with a towel. "Pat" your skin. Remember wash cloths and loofahs are rough on the skin. Use the palms of your hands to bathe with. Absolutely no microdermabrasion. Remember you have exfoliated TWICE before your custom spray tan. Give your skin a break! I give you permission!
  • Stay away from using - Pore strips, band aids, face masks, hair removal creams, shaving creams, anti aging and anti acne products. Alcohol based products such as toners and astringents can cause faster fading of your tan.
  • Shave - When shaving use conditioner. No bar soap or shaving cream because these products tend to sit heavy in your pores.
  • NO long hot baths or showers - This will encourage skins cells to shed.
  • Soap - Use something that is mildly moisturizing. Remember no bar soap. This can encourage faster fading.
  • Sun block - This one is VERY important! Your custom spray tan does not have any sunblock in it. This means if you decide to spend the day in the sun you are not protected. Please shield your skin. Remember...melanoma is dangerous! Do not risk it. (Wear a waterproof or sport spf to create a barrier between you and water if you are going for a swim.)
  • Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize - Do this DAILY...TWICE A DAY IS EVEN BETTER!!! The best time to use a moisturizing lotion is right after your bath or shower. Stay away from heaviliy perfumed lotions. The oils will encourage your tan to slough off.) My personal choice is Cerave Lotion!
  • Facial tanner - Our face has a tendency to fade faster than the rest of our bodies. This is because we wash our face, wear makeup, and use acne creams. A facial tanner can be used a few days after your spray tan to keep the color matching the rest of your body.
  • Hydrate - Drink plenty of water to keep your body hydrated.
